FIRST QUARTERLY UPDATE

LEADERSHIP TRAINING CENTER

ACE 2nd Year Anniversary–Feb 15th!

ACE started with only 3 scholarship residents in the early of 2009. In two years of operation, there are more than 10 students have been selected to become the scholarship residents at ACE Leadership Training Center (LTC). Also there are more than 300 kids at Relocation site project have been getting the benefits from ACE! To congratulate and share ACE accomplishments, a party was celebrated on February 15th. ACE is committed to stand in a long term to help and serve more underprivileged community across Cambodia!





International Women Right’s Day!


ACE believes in empowering girls and young women as they have a huge impact on their family, community and Cambodia!
On this special event all the girls and women at ACE Leadership Training Center were each gifted with a rose in order to build the friendship, encouraging women to be stronger and becoming the leaders in the society.





Connecting the Student’s Family to LTC





In January a group of ACE scholarship residents visited Sotheara’s family in Kandal Province. It took more than one hour to get there as the road was still under construction though once we got there we felt relaxed and enjoyed the fresh air in the country side. The trip to a resident’s hometown is often done to prolong a good connection between LTC and the resident’s family. Everyone had a lovely lunch with Sotheara’s family before heading back to the LTC in the evening.


LTC Welcomes New Scholarship Residents!








Since the 2011 New Year started there are 4 students have moved in ACE Leadership Training Center.They are Sun Rathana, an accountant student from Kompong Thom province; Heng Mien, Environmental Science student from Siem Reap Province; Chheng Kimlong, an AIS Grade 3 student from relocation site Peace II and Nob Sorath, an English Literature student from Kampong Speu Province. ACE welcomes these 4 potential leaders to the Leadership Training Center!





First Tenpin Bowling at Parkway !


ACE had a special time with Steve, a friend from America! Steve spent his busy time to visit all of our projects both Rudi Boa Relocation Site and Dormitory & Leadership Center. The LTC residents also had a chance to go bowling with Steve before enjoying a lovely dinner at a Lucky Burger. Everyone had a fabulous time! Thank so much to Steve!





Tightening the Partnership!





LTC scholarship residents were all invited to have a party at the Sustainable International Dormitory. The party was celebrated to tightening the friendship between ACE and Sustainable International Organisation especially for the residents to share general ideas on their studies, background, dreams and community development. Everyone had so much fun! Thanks everyone for organizing such a special party!


Our First Camping Trip!





ACE hosted its first camping trip to Bak Keng, in Phnom Penh just prior to Khmer New Year celebration! There were 37 students and staffs took part in the camping trip from various NGOs including Aziza, Youth School, Lakeside, Midway House and other universities. Thank you to those who worked hard on organizing this fabulous camping trip!


ACE Scholarship Residents Have Been Introduced to The Rotaract Group!





Mr. Saing Sokchea, a director of Attitude Centre for Education has become a member of the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh Metro since 2009. Since then he even got a chance to get closer to his community. In March this year, Sokchea spent two days at Battambong province—joining the Pet training with other members from five Rotary clubs in Cambodia. The training was provided by the district 3350, Thailand.

The training was also—shared with all ACE scholarship residents especially the amazing work of Rotaractors around the world. All the residents are interested—and willing to get more involved in the community as they have already been doing the community services for years. This notion was brought to the Rotary meeting last week—the Rotary club of Phnom Penh Metro is in the process of setting up the first Rotaract Group in Cambodia!





WEEKEND TRAINING PROGRAM


ACE has just established another program at the start of this year to give more opportunity to the ACE residents, Rudi Boa’s students and other NGOs. The program called Weekend Training Program. There are seven professional trainers have been selected from a list of more than a hundred applicants to become ACE weekend trainers. Our expert trainers are equipped with over ten years of working experiences in their areas.








They work closely with ACE Training Organizer Team (TO) to distribute many courses at LTC varied from Job searching strategy, Effective Development skill, Attitude Forum–An Extraordinary Life Skill, Interacting Teaching Methodology, Effective Role of Administration in an Organisation, Communication Access to Power, Leadership and Management skill, Fundraising skill, Marketing management, to How to become a small business Planner.





RUDI BOA CENTER – A RELOCATION SITE PROJECT


An Incredible Achievement!


In just two years of operation, Rudi Boa Center (RBC) which is a Relocation site project of ACE, has the students attendance increased from 60 to more than 300! At RBC we provide what the public schools do not provide such as Computer class, Health and Hygiene, Sport, Art, Kid Club, Volunteering program, Team Leader program, and English class from 7am till 7:30pm. Thanks to all our enthusiastic staffs, team leaders and volunteers for your hard work!





It’s Never Too Young to Learn First AID!


A First Aid training was conducted to thirty





students by Sreynut one of the RBC Team Leaders. The students were demonstrated how

to bandage chest injury and cleaning wound. Students enjoyed the training and had so much fun in taking turn to practice what they have learnt on each other.

Keeping Our Teeth Healthy!


More than 300 students at RBC were provided with toothpaste! They were taught to brush teeth in a proper way before handed with toothpaste. This program is part of Health and Hygiene and is done once in three month educating the kids to maintain a healthy lifestyle.








Volunteers and Team Leaders Make a Huge Difference at Rudi Boa!

We have nine team leaders and two volunteers assisting actively in various program of the Center such as Sport, English class, Computer class, Art, Health and Hygiene. They are volunteering 5 days a week. Thank so much to all the volunteers and team leaders for your actively and enthusiastic involvement at Rudi Boa Center!

Youth Training Program!


Raksmey, one of the LTC scholarship residents and a Social Work student conducted trainings on Communication Skill and Body Language to more than 40 youths at Rudi Boa Center in February. Raksmey is also a volunteer Student Counselor at Rudi Boa, he does the training at least twice a week in relation to Social Work to the staffs, team leaders and students. Thanks so much Raksmey!





Vantha a LTC scholarship resident and Project Manager of Rudi Boa also conducted Positive Thinking to students and staffs. The main purposes of these trainings are to encourage the participants to get rid of some their negative thinking in their daily life and leading themselves to a peaceful lifestyle by start thinking positive. He showed them some tips to practice when they confront any problems or conflicts in with family members or friends. Great work Vantha!





Please Drink Less Dad!


Rudi Boa Center celebrated an event, Disadvantage of Drinking to alert and also inform the community in Peace II to reduce their drinking habit. This event was celebrated due to the notice of high alcohol intake in relation to domestic violence and traffic accident in the community. There were more than two hundred students took part in the event with singing and drama performing around the community. We believe that these kids have a huge impact in their family, community and country!

About Us


Attitude Centre for Education (ACE) is a local NGO found in February 2009 by Mr. Saing Sokchea, who is a former dormitory resident and a leadership trainer. He had also has another four years working with other NGOs in the slum in Phnom Penh prior to establishing ACE. Sokchea has always wanted one thing, to make a difference in the lives of many Cambodian people, particularly to empower the younger generation to become well rounded individuals who show compassion and strong leadership skill. After discussions with an Australian NGO the Cambodian Kids Foundation (CKF) the decision was made to establish the Attitude Centre for Education (ACE).

We believe that the best hope to rebuild Cambodia lies in education by empowering the local young generation.

ACE Programs

Leadership Training Center (LTC)

Where we provide free accommodation, university scholarship, and long term leadership training to unprivileged ambitious university students from various remote provinces across Cambodia.

Rudi Boa Center (RBC):

RBC is an integral component of Attitude Centre for Education (ACE) Child Protection and Education Program. Where we provide free English/Khmer Classes, Art, Basic Heath & Hygiene, Sport, Internship program, leadership and life skill trainings, to more than 300 kids and adults at the relocation site (Peace II), 22 km from Phnom Penh.

The Weekend Training Program:

This is our new program where we provide training to people from difference walk of life on the topics such as: Leadership, Communication, Job Seeking, Interactive Teaching Methodology, Marketing Skill, How to set a small business. The program is run by the seven qualified trainers with many years of experiences in their training areas with the assistance from the ACE scholarship residents.
